The last charm by Ella Allbright

The last charm by Ella Allbright is one bittersweet story that will warm your heart and also shatter it. Its been a long time since I read any romance. I think when you read suspense or thriller for long, the sheer predictability of the story with romance genre is a put off. But we also know it's in the way of telling the tale that holds the true excitement.

Set in Bournemouth, on the south coast of England, the book follows a lot more than just the protagonist's journey. It's about the breezes in the beach, and the vivid descriptions of the picturesque landscape of durdle door and many other places they travel, that makes the book one pleasant read.

The book talks about the journey of Leila, who is a little less self-assured, a lot insecure but has been a subject of awe for Jake from the very first time he meets her. The book covers their journey of 20 years , with chapters alternating the narrations of Leila and Jake.

Leila has a bracelet, which she holds closer than her life because it has charms that marks different occasions of her life. Her mother ran away when she was very young. During all important occasions of her life, a charm arrives as a gift, which Leila presumes is from her mother. When in reality, it's Jake who gifts her just to make her happy and that actually gives her hope that her mother would be back someday.

This book for me after the first few chapters, was irresistible and comes with the takeaway that no matter what , life will go on. We would feel like the world crashing on us someday, but we all live to see many like that in one lifetime even though every time we feel 'this is it'.

So, why is the title 'The last charm'?. Wats Leila and Jake's story? Read the book to know about it.

A highly recommended read for people who enjoy romance genre.
