Educated by Tara Westover

This memoir is a captivating story about the girl from the mountains or Idaho. Tara was raised by her parents to believe that education is a scam by the governments to poison people's minds and that going to a school isn't our true calling. She believed this and lived a life helping her father until her brother Tyler runs away from home to pursue education.

The writing felt so personal and reflects the mindset of a person whose reality initially took shape from her upbringing , and when later she gets a chance to explore the world she is intimidated by it. 'All that she is' is defied by 'all that she learns'.

Imagine growing up in a household where abuse is common and you are so used to it that you are unaffected by it to the extent that you don't think the need to speak up.

Her story is quite an unusual one. She broke her bubble to explore the vastness where she found herself. And what is truly amazing is ,irrespective of whoever brought you into this world, and however vile you consider your essential nature to be, there is always so much of you left to be discovered. I write this because from time to time she has expressed with vividness the thoughts inside her head and that was always ahead of the time and place she was living in.

Also life has a way of balancing and correcting us. Tara's father's life is a grueling reminder that gives credence to it. If you always keep commanding, life will make sure that you learn to obey some day.

Tara's journey is inspiring and she makes a strong connection with the readers because she has told her story with a raw, blistering intensity .She wrestled with the toughest academic concepts and crippled thoughts, to get to a place that's oceans away from the mountains she grew up. And it did not happen by chance or didnt look like a 'meant to be' one and that makes her story phenomenal.

In this book, Tara has quoted from her journal which she used to keep all the while.

Do you keep a journal?. I think it's important to keep because who knows collating it few years down the line may make sense.😬
