Book review - Wolf by Mo Hayder

The book starts with the encounter between a small kid, Amy and an old man with a puppy. The puppy is called 'bear'. Amy convinces her frenzy parents that the guy was friendly and nothing unusual happened. The dog carries a message 'help us', which Amy is reluctant to reveal to her parents for obvious reasons. Oliver and Matilda is a couple who seem to have got some intruders in their house .Lucia and Kiran are their children.Lucia's boyfriend Hugo was brutally murdered few years ago. And, there is a dog in their house. They call it 'bear'. On the loose ,they fear is Hugo's murderer who must have come back to get the whole family. Within the first few chapters ,the author puts an intriguing base to the story and with each chapter ,the pieces of puzzle seems hard to fathom.  The writing is poignant and builds an aura that leaves you aghast. The book is more than 500 pages but the short chapters makes you feel like its only a breath away before it's over. The killings are brutal that it reminds you of Hannibal Lecter. I felt the contents in few chapters needless. As we approach the end ,the story picks up pace and the unexpected turn of events keeps you hooked. This book is a part of 'Walking man ' series by Mo Hayder.
