A tribute to "F.R.I.E.N.D.S"

This post is a tribute to the show "Friends". Friends is the story about six friends and how their lives change over a period of ten years. The storyline and certain plots are downright unrealistic. But what makes the show special are the performances of six amazing artists. Isn't it remarkable to create such profound impact in peoples lives. I am sure the show will continue to rule our living rooms until humans perish from the face of earth. Let me explain why I love them so much. Starting with the girls.

Phoebe: The person who had the most difficult upbringing . She is the personification of the quote" Don't take life seriously because nobody is getting out alive". Phoebe is unapologetically herself and always finds humour in difficult situations. She is very sincere with her friends and doesnt have a double face. I would love to have a friend like her. Lisa Kudrow nails the role to perfection making Phoebe one of the funniest character in Friends.

Rachel: I think majority of the girls would be Rachel. Jennifer Aniston made the role truly special with her charm and wittiness. I would give her the best actress award as there is nothing peculiar about the character yet Aniston carved out the perfect caricature for Rachel. Rachel is that beautiful next door girl with whom you can occasionally hang out but cannot trust.She is indecisive and would go to any extend to get the smell of success.

Monica: The character that I love the most because she is a giver and go-getter in life. Monica is the person you need if you feel low in your life. She is the mature person of the group and is the glue that holds everybody together. Who wouldnt love to have a roomie who cooks nice food and keeps everything organized at all times. Since she cooks well, she is always the host and her apartment is always buzzing with friends. The only negative side to her is that she could be a little overbearing at times. Courtney Cox wouldnt have got any prime time Emmy nomination but I cannot imagine another face to Monica. If Monica was around she would be saying "I Know".

Now the guys..

Ross: Ross is a nerd and the most caring guy you will ever meet. He is so funny that he is like that delicious layer of icing in the cake which we tend to overlook while relishing the cake. David Schwimmer has done the role with so much conviction that makes us want to believe that guys like him do exist. If Ross was around he would be saying "You do believe huh, do you?"

Chandler: Popularly known as the king of sarcasm, Mathew Perry is much like Chandler if reports are to believe. I love his smile. To me, he is the handsome of all. There are so many guys who are not comfortable around girls and chandler is one of them. But once you get past that line, as Monica says he is so cute.

Joey: One of the most popular character of Friends. A purely fictional character, much of the credit for the fame goes to Matt le Blanc for his effortless acting and swag. Joey understands only those things said to him explicitly. Thats right, he can't think and much of his growing years were dedicated to sex and flirting, which he is good at. He is also a man with golden heart when it comes to his friends.

I would like to steal Phoebe's lines that the show is light years ahead of its time.

Few obervations from the show to reason the same.

* Girls dont always fall for guys who are macho. Look at our imperfect Ross, he is portrayed as a man who goes crazy, who cries which doesn't make him any less desirable to a girl like Rachel.

* Girls could be physically stronger than boys. In the show, Monica is shown as a women physically stronger than the guys.

* If you follow your hearts desire with persistance you will be able to build a career that you love. Rachel's journey from a run away bride to a coffee shop and then to Ralph Lauren is inspiring.

* Marriage is not the solution for problems in life and that it is possible to raise a child as a single parent. In the show Rachel goes through a roller coaster of emotions when she becomes a mother. She is brave and stays strong on her decision not to marry Ross for the same.

* There is always a solution if you are willing to find. Everybody who has watched the show knows how Monica always wanted kids. Some unfavourable life circumstances makes it impossible for them(Mon and Chan) and hence they go for surrogacy. And well, you know how it ends. God bless them!

* When it comes to falling in love, you cant really help whom you end up with. Most of the times we seek approval from society for our choices and this could sometimes be useful and most of the times in conflict with our own interests in life. Monica and Richard are two people whose chemistry made us go "Aww".

* Despite your difficult upbringing and regardless of how other's perceive you, life could be an endless possibility , if you think you deserve it. Phoebe is the perfect example for the same. She always believed in selfless deeds and miracles which made her look weird but she always had high regard for herself. Is Mark anything less than a miracle?.

I cannot really explain what makes the show watchable even after seeing it multiple times and I could go on writing about it. You laugh everytime you watch and never get tired of their jokes. I tell you, people are generally disappointing but these six people will always be there for you. My goodness, I would have had to consider therapy if it was not for this show.
